the challenge

Osho Risk, a meditation center in rural Denmark growing since the eighties, wanted to increase the amount of younger participants in their seasonal festivals.

the solution

I was invited to co-host and co-create seasonal festivals and the festival program offerings.

festivals and event design

Living and working at the Osho Risk Meditation Center in the Danish countryside, I moved beyond graphic design and visual identity to being part of, and designing, seasonal festivals.

The Osho Risk seasonal festivals are a way to get introduced to the offerings of the place; three daily meditations, three daily vegetarian meals along with different daily workshops and live music, spanning from four to seven days. I co-hosted and co-created nine festivals with more than 80 participants.

With a deep appreciation and respect for the stress and busyness of the daily lives of the visiting participants, we would build the workshop program around an experiential, emotional journey arc - moving from gentle stress release and relaxation to inner exploration, meditation and celebration - allowing the participants to leave with a sense of deep soul nourishment and appreciation for the fullness of life.

The program brought together different modalities and experiences: breath work, dance, therapeutic work, inquiry and meditation, alongside live music, nature walks, vegetarian meals and cabarets. Three active meditations anchored each day, creating rhythm and structure around the more varied offerings. Participants were invited to explore what felt most right for them and choose how deeply they wanted to engage with the different offerings.

The role of the program was to serve as a strong and safe container with enough freedom inside it to allow for the experience of a personal discovery.

As a host, I also facilitated individual workshops and held group gatherings every morning to gently check in with the participants during the progression of the festival.

the impact

A diverse hosting team ensured a diverse group of festival participants, and we gradually increased the younger participants. With time, I was invited to set my own festival hosting team to further inject new life into the meditation center.

an experiential, emotional journey arc

gracefully navigating change

I was involved from end to end in the festival design - from ideation, program development, inviting workshop facilitators, creating posters and marketing for the events, to preparing, arranging, hosting and delivering the festivals.

The work taught me how to deeply understand people, energy, group dynamics and experience design from the inside, and to gracefully hold space and navigate changes whilst ensuring everyone feels safe and is included in a fluid and dynamic setting.
